Picture a woman from Poland who goes to teach English in China, primarily for one year. I don't know a soul, nor do I speak the language. I have no clue about Chinese culture. One thing China is very good at is to make even the calmest of us frustrated. We are, after all, outsiders, observers, the 'others'. China depicted in this book can change you like it changed me.
