Grape Man of Texas: Thomas Volney Munson and the origins of American viticulture

Grape Man of Texas is the first biography of Thomas Volney Munson (1843-1913), the internationally recognized horticulturist who developed over 300 new varieties of grapes, some of which are still grown today on almost every continent. He is perhaps best known for his work in fighting the phylloxera epidemic of the late nineteenth century, which nearly destroyed the world’s vineyards. His solution—grafting vinifera onto certain resistant native rootstocks from Texas—earned him the Chevalier du Merite Agricole in the French Legion of Honor and numerous accolades. This second edition introduces new insights into the phylloxera period, Munson’s many papers and publications, and his far-sighted grasp of the needs of twentieth century agriculture and transportation. It details the continuing influence of both his research and his hybrid grapes on modern viticulture and new varieties of vitis that have been bred from them around the world.

I have used this app to listen to my audio books for several years now. I keep several book series, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, etc., add new books, remove after read, etc. While I currently have 17 books loaded, with several books in progress, the app has never lost a reading place. Bookmarks work like a charm. I not only listen to audio books at home, I also listen while I drive. I appreciate that the app pauses during turn-by-turn directions. Thank you for an app that just does its thing flawlessly.

Loved the free version so much, I upgraded to the Pro version. Love how it can play numerous formats. Easy to use, and navigate. Hope in a future update they include the ability to autoplay the next book after the previous one ended. Not all files are always a book, so in those cases this would be perfect, as some files are per chapter from some online sources.

This is the only audiobook player I've found that can speed books up (without changing the pitch) and still keep the sound quality very good. It sounds as good as Overcast (minus a couple features like skipping empty spots and voice boosting) but makes it easy to import books (Overcast forces you to upload them to their servers with a 2gb limit).

The app allows a lot of freedom as far as organization and playback speed. Sleep timer is adjustable and combining books into series folders is simple. Equalizer helps to adjust pitch when playing at high speeds and helps reduces feedback with poor quality recordings. App never crashes and I don’t have any complaints.
