Este primer tomo de las Obras Selectas de Paul Ricoeur, Lo voluntario y lo involuntario, publicado en 1950, constituye a su vez el primer tomo donde se anuncia e inicia su trilog a magna de la Filosof a de la voluntad. Dos proyectos se cruzan y hasta se enfrentan. El primero permite hacerse una primera idea de la pasividad que contradice la pretensi n del cogito de origen cartesiano de presentarse como soberano de's mismo. El segundo lleva tan lejos como es posible la descripci n pura, a la manera de la intuici n eid tica de Husserl, de las estructuras del querer: proyecto, imputaci n, motivaci n, deseo, esfuerzo, emoci n, h bito. El primer proyecto exige el complemento de una meditaci n sobre la "desproporci n" de uno consigo mismo, que define el estatuto ontol gico de "El hombre falible". El segundo encuentra su l mite en la necesidad de poner entre par ntesis la condici n de una voluntad desde siempre mala.
