Louis Wain's Cats

'Louis Wain invented a cat style, a cat society, a whole cat world'. Broadcast in 1925 by H.G. Wells, these words characteristically foretold the future of the Wain cat which has, once more, become the century's most recognisable image in cat art. During their heyday, in the time before the First World War, Louis Wain's cats, dressed as humans, portrayed that stylish Edwardian world having fun: at restaurants and tea parties, going to the Race and the Seaside, celebrating at Christmas and Birthdays, and disporting themselves with exuberant games of tennis, bowls, cricket and football. This is a titillating world of cats at play, uninhibited and slightly dangerous, with most group activities likely to turn into mishap, mayhem and catastrophe. This is Wain's world, funny, edgy and animated: a whole cat world. The first comprehensive exhibition of Wain's work was held at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London in 1972 and, since then, Louis Wain has steadily become more fashionable, and collected worldwide. With a thoughtful introduction from award winning actor Benedict Cumberbatch, this biography contains 300 plates of richness and variety, all of which are reproduced faithfully from the original artwork. This book is jointly published by Chris Beetles Ltd and Canongate Books.

How to download audiobooks from Youtube for free on the your iPhone & iPad.

I use this app. to hear the Bible, usually while exercising on a ski machine (with a separate Bluetooth speaker). The audio Bible I have is in German, so I get some language practice, too. The app. keeps the files in their proper order, which iTunes did not. I see the app. has a procedure built in for uploading files to the iPhone. I had already used 3rd party software to do that for a previous iPhone, and these files came over to this phone when I got a new phone. This app. clips the chapter number just a little when starting a new chapter, but only when using the Bluetooth speaker, so that may be a problem wit the speaker software. My previous audio book player did not do that. Other than that, it does what I want.

The default music player doesn’t make it easy to add audio books from mp3, you can do it but it’s a pain in the but. This app makes it easy! I have been using it for years and I have been getting the updates for free! After my 1 time purchase. I like this app so much I deleted the music app and just have this.

Great app at last I can bookmark audiobooks. Once you have familiarised yourself with the app it works a treat. Just remember to click on the iPhone icon in the top bar (next to music and the up and down arrows) not on the right hand side bar. Then in the summary “file sharing” then select the app and add the audio book from windows explorer not iTunes.

I have a number of audiobooks of various formats and ages, collected over decades. I digitized them all to use on mobile devices before iPhones even existed, but obviously now I’d rather not carry a separate device around with me. MP3 Audiobook Player to the rescue! This app lets me load books wirelessly, even via WebDAV, and has excellent usability features like playback speed. It can also be the target of a timer on iOS, so you can set a bedtime timer and automatically stop playback when desired. I just love it, and immediately bought the full version after I saw what it could do.
