Pioneering Chinese American actress Anna May Wong made more than sixty films, headlined theater and vaudeville productions, and even starred in her own television show. Her work helped shape racial modernity as she embodied the dominant image of Chinese and, more generally, “Oriental” women between 1925 and 1940. In Anna May Wong, Shirley Jennifer Lim re-evaluates Wong’s life and work as a consummate artist by mining an historical archive of her efforts outside of Hollywood cinema. From her pan-European films and her self-made My China Film to her encounters with artists such as Josephine Baker, Carl Van Vechten, and Walter Benjamin, Lim scrutinizes Wong’s cultural production and self-fashioning. Byconsidering the salient moments of Wong’s career and cultural output, Lim’s analysis explores the deeper meanings, and positions the actress as an historical and cultural entrepreneur who rewrote categories of representation. Anna May Wong provides a new understanding of the actress’s career as an ingenious creative artist.

I have used this app to listen to my audio books for several years now. I keep several book series, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, etc., add new books, remove after read, etc. While I currently have 17 books loaded, with several books in progress, the app has never lost a reading place. Bookmarks work like a charm. I not only listen to audio books at home, I also listen while I drive. I appreciate that the app pauses during turn-by-turn directions. Thank you for an app that just does its thing flawlessly.

I use this app. to hear the Bible, usually while exercising on a ski machine (with a separate Bluetooth speaker). The audio Bible I have is in German, so I get some language practice, too. The app. keeps the files in their proper order, which iTunes did not. I see the app. has a procedure built in for uploading files to the iPhone. I had already used 3rd party software to do that for a previous iPhone, and these files came over to this phone when I got a new phone. This app. clips the chapter number just a little when starting a new chapter, but only when using the Bluetooth speaker, so that may be a problem wit the speaker software. My previous audio book player did not do that. Other than that, it does what I want.

I have been using this app for almost 100 days, now. I was very happy with the functions this app provided. This includes but not limited to the ease of transfer of books over wifi, easy navigation of the audiobook and the bookmarks features. It’s a must-have app for any user who looks forward to listening to audio books.

I just purchased a pack of MP3 audiobooks and I normally listen to Audible at 1.5 normal speed. So when I have to listen to things at normal speed or whatever it is EXCRUCIATING!!! I am so glad I found this app and the fact that you can dial up your speed by tenths instead of quarters is even better. Now if only o could figure out how to love my audible library over here...????
