Y Mussolini afirmaba que "las masas y las mujeres nacieron para ser violadas".Dictadoras muestra cómo se relacionaron los líderes de regímenes totalitarios con sus mujeres y en consecuencia, con la sociedad en su conjunto.ENGLISH DESCRIPTION"Talking about some of the most well known tyrants of the 20th century through the eyes of their wives, lovers, and daughters, and about the place that women occupied in their megalomaniac projects, is to be able to go deeper into European history from another perspective and expand our understanding of social tragedies through the analysis of domestic tragedies. It is like going into dictatorships through the back door," says Rosa Montero in the prologue to this marvelous book that deals with the power of the women in the shadows of Hitler, Franco, Stalin, and Mussolini. Along with a television crew, Rosa Montero traveled throughout Russia, Germany, Italy, and Spain. They interviewed the dictators’ immediate family members, visited their bunkers, their tombs, their private offices, and reconstructed the private lives of the tyrants and their relationships with the devastating history of the dictatorships. This book is the result of that task, and of the collaboration of prestigious international historians. Madam Dictators shows how the leaders of totalitarian regimes connected with their wives and, consequently, with society as a whole.
